Our Story

The Muskoka Printmaker Collective was founded by Karen Gray, Dawn Huddlestone, Christina MacBean, and Elise Muller in 2024. One of their first Collective undertakings was the first Big Muskoka Print, a large-scale printmaking event where they print extra-large woodcuts that take months to carve. Instead of a traditional printing press, they use a lawn roller weighing approximately 900 pounds! They have since demonstrated this process at Nuit Blanche North in 2024.

In 2025, the Muskoka Printmaker Collective expanded to welcome other local printmakers to the group. An Open House event was held at Elise's studio, Stone Tree Studio, in Lake of Bays where some of the members met to share their work and do some printmaking. The debut show featuring these artists is at the Huntsville Public Library from December 2, 2025 until February 2, 2026. The "Roll with it" show will also include a talk featuring four of the artists, Dana Aubrey, Andrea McCallum, Elise Muller, and Sasha Rae Pringle on January 12, 2026 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm and anyone is welcome to attend.

While each of the artists in the Collective has their own individual art practice, printmaking is meant to be a community medium. Having other artists to share ideas for processes, materials, and resources is a wonderful thing to have here in Muskoka!
